The speaker for our July meeting will be Elisabeth Smith, MA, LLP.  She is a Limited Licensed Psychologist from Lansing. She currently works for Hero's Journey Testing & Psychotherapy in Okemos.  She previously worked through Arbor Hills Psychological Services and is a frequent expert witness in the Jackson County Probate Court in matters regarding guardianships of developmentally disabled individuals, as well as vulnerable adults.  She will be discussing the process involved in evaluating an adult suspected of being mentally incompetent as it relates to petitioning the court for guardianship or conservatorship of the adult, which would also be helpful to our membership as it relates to competency for estate planning, banking, financial planning, potential financial exploitation, and the like.

 

Speaker Bio:

Elisabeth J. Smith graduated from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology with a Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology. She holds a Masters Psychologist License in the state of Michigan. Elisabeth specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, behavior and impulse management, and ADHD. She also has 10 years of experience conducting psychological and neuropsychological evaluations of individuals for guardianship, both for Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health, including neurocognitive disorders. She has testified as an expert witness in Jackson, Ingham, and Hillsdale counties.
